Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" is a 1951 science fiction film directed by Robert Wise. It is considered a classic of the genre and is known for its thought-provoking themes, memorable characters, and its impact on science fiction cinema.
Plot:
The film's story begins with the arrival of a flying saucer in Washington, D.C. The saucer's occupant, a humanoid extraterrestrial named Klaatu (played by Michael Rennie), emerges with a message of peace for humanity. Accompanied by a powerful and indestructible robot called Gort, Klaatu seeks to meet with the world's leaders to convey the urgency of his message.
However, instead of being welcomed, Klaatu is met with fear and suspicion. He adopts the alias "Mr. Carpenter" and stays in a boarding house, where he forms a friendship with a widow named Helen Benson (played by Patricia Neal) and her son, Bobby (played by Billy Gray). As Klaatu tries to understand humanity, he delivers a warning to Earth's leaders about the conseq...
